A Big Start to 2017

After traveling 19 hours from Carol’s home in Pennsylvania to Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club resort in Kauai Hawaii,20170303_072116
we were exhausted.  There was only a one hour layover in Phoenix and the rest was sitting in those uncomfortable airline seats and getting the rental car.  My aging bottom and arthritic joints are too old to stay still that long.  Jim had to put up with a lot of “are we there yet” and “how much longer”.
At the airport, there was a beautiful rooster,20170303_075624_001
several hens and 8 baby chicks to entertain us while we waited.  Once we arrived at the hotel we realized there were chickens all over the island.   We opted for dinner on the property overlooking the beach as the sunset20170302_184145
but we were really too tired to fully enjoy it.  I’m sure there will be more opportunities.
This morning we were bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to explore our new adventure.  This place is gorgeous and I’m sure there will be many stunning pictures.  On our walk, we saw lots of colorful roosters, nurturing hens and baby chicks of varying ages.

There were several monster snails crawling about (at least 4”) and a resident swan enjoying the many natural looking waterfalls and pools.snail

More pictures to come.
