Lubec, Maine – September 11, 2012

Oh my gosh!  We have landed in a little piece of paradise and I have fallen in love.  We are staying at the Sunset Point RV Park in Lubec, Maine which is the eastern most city in the United States.  This little park sits on the coast of the Bay of Fundy and jets out so you can see sunrises and sunsets.   I can’t wait to put some pictures of this place in the blog.

We are so close to the Canadian border that our cell phones pick up the towers in Canada and we could get charged international roaming rates so we are not using our cell phones.  In fact, the border is just down the street.  The village of Lubec looks just like a calendar picture with fishing boats and small shops and restaurants and that New England look about them.  Tomorrow we are going to Campobello Island which is half in the US and half in Canada.  It was the summer home of President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt.  There are several things we have been told we need to do there and that will be our trip for tomorrow.  We will take our bikes because there appears to be nice trails to ride on and, well, I’ll save all that for my report after we have been there.

For those of you wondering about the flower and bush, we have an answer that has been confirmed.  It is a hydrangea tree.  They are all over this New England area in varying sizes and shapes.  Thank you Barbara for the answer which we were later able to confirm.

The leaves are just starting to turn color.  Every so often we find one tree in bright red or orange but we appear to be far from the peak.

More pictures of Lubec, ME tomorrow (the photographer)
